review: bridge of spies (2015)

SYNOPSIS (IMDB): During the Cold War, an American lawyer is recruited to defend an arrested Soviet spy in court, and then help the CIA facilitate an exchange of the spy for the Soviet captured American U2 spy plane pilot, Francis Gary Powers.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: 9.9/10

ACTING: 9.7/10
CINEMATOGRAPHY: 10/10 *
NARRATIVE/SCREENPLAY: 10/10
SCORE: 10/10

COMMENT: Mark Rylance for the win. This could have been quite dull – with the abundance of speech/information, and lack of action, but every department stepped up, and Bridge of Spies was the farthest thing from dull.

* I absolutely love how theatrical they made this film look – in the sense that it looked like it was an onstage performance. I was SO into use of dramatic colours, spotlights, and angles.
