review: steve jobs (2015)

SYNOPSIS (IMDB): Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution, to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter. The story unfolds backstage at three iconic product launches, ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: 8.5/10

ACTING: 9/10
CINEMATOGRAPHY: 9.2/10
NARRATIVE/SCREENPLAY: 7/10 *
SCORE: 10/10

COMMENT: My first thought when commenting on Steve Jobs is, “what a beautiful score”. My second thought is, “I could never picture Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs, which is why I’ve been putting this film off for so long, but he truly transformed himself here”.

* I can appreciate why the creators of Steve Jobs structured the narrative in the way they did, just showing us the behind-the-scenes, pre-show moments. I just really wanted to see Michael Fassbender go onstage and perform a bit of a Steve Jobs product launch just once. That’s what I was waiting for.
