review: the jungle book (2016)

SYNOPSIS (IMDB): The man-cub Mowgli flees the jungle after a threat from the tiger Shere Khan. Guided by Bagheera the panther and the bear Baloo, Mowgli embarks on a journey of self-discovery, though he also meets creatures who don’t have his best interests at heart.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: 9/10

ACTING: 7.5/10
CINEMATOGRAPHY: 9.5/10 *
NARRATIVE/SCREENPLAY: 9/10
SCORE: 9/10

REVIEW IN ONE SENTENCE: A beautifully-crafted movie that will bring out your inner child, while giving your eyes pleasure.

* This film, while suitable for a younger audience, also has the ability to entertain those of an older demographic. With stunning scenes crafted digitally and with great detail, The Jungle Book was more than I expected it to be. This film will give you the impression of an amazing technically executed feat, as well as the feeling of a comforting, familiar, familial story. Definitely give this a watch.

  1. We didn’t like the movie that much; also I think it might be a little too intense for some kids. There were children screaming and sobbing in our screening because they were so freaked out. Just an FYI for any parents out there.
