OVERALL IMPRESSION: 9.8/10

ACTING: 10/10 *
CINEMATOGRAPHY: 9.5/10
NARRATIVE/SCREENPLAY: 10/10 **
SCORE: 9.5/10

REVIEW IN ONE SENTENCE: Favourite film of 2016. Hands down. (But also haven’t seen La La Land or Lion yet so we will see.)

* CASEY AFFLECK HOLY. If this man doesn’t win every single award at every single ceremony this year…. I just won’t know what to do with myself. This was the perfect role for this man, it seemed like he wasn’t even acting at all – which is really the best kind of acting. The subtlety and authenticity of every single second he was onscreen was absolutely magical.

** The writing in this was AMAZING as well. Everything was just so real and so genuine. Little comedic beats were inserted at the exact perfect moments, and everything from the dramatic breakdowns, to the little teenage boy comebacks – just every moment really, was absolutely perfect. This was also one of those movies where you don’t really know where it’s going to take you in the end, you just have to keep watching and keep living with the characters and watch it unfold.

*** Third note, the EDITING. Um this had the best editing in any movie I’ve seen recently. Absolutely unbelievable. That’s it. I’ll stop rambling now.
